From the President

Over the last year our very active and involved parent community have, with great enthusiasm, been working with the School Executive towards a common goal of enhancing both the curriculum and school facilities to improve the daily school life of our children.

In my 1st year as President it has been wonderful to see increased numbers in attendance for both P & C meetings and social events such as the Big Thong, Little Thong and varied BBQ’s. You, as a community, have shown great support to the Uniform Shop, Canteen, and fundraising stalls throughout the year. The funds we have raised in the last 12 months have, for the most part, seen improvements in technology with the installation of Interactive Whiteboards in 9 of the classrooms with the balance to be installed by the end of the year. Funds have been provided to enhance the School Band with a greater range of instruments being made available to the children. In the coming year our focus will be on contributing to the literacy programme by renewing home readers and increasing quality literature throughout the school.

This year more than ever we will need your assistance as we plan our 1st inaugural Coogee Coastal Run. Our aim is to make this event and “must do” on Sydney’s running calendar. The hope is that this event will not only raise funds for the school but also develop stronger ties with the community so that everybody has an interest in seeing our children grow into educated articulate individuals with a sense of pride in their community.

We look forward to working together with Paul Wood and Stuart Crawford and the Coogee staff to achieve these goals.

P&C President 2009

Joining the Coogee PS P&C Association

Membership of the Coogee PS P&C is open to all parents and guardians of currently enrolled students, citizens living in the Coogee catchment and staff of Coogee Public School. You may join as a member at any time, however membership does not become ‘active’ until the close of the next general meeting of the association.

Becoming a financial member is simple. Download and complete the membership form. Place the form along with a gold coin payment in an envelope marked ‘P&C Membership’ and hand in to the school office.

Once you are a financial member of the P&C Association you may move and vote on motions and stand for election on the executive committee or sub-committees. All committee members must be financial members of the P&C.

Meetings

General meetings of the P&C are held on the third Tuesday of each month during school terms. There is no December general meeting as this traditionally falls in the last week of school.

The next general meeting is Tuesday 16 February at 7.30pm in the school library.

Annual General Meeting

The AGM of the association has been traditionally held in November but has been postponed until March 2010. This decision was made in consultation with the Federation of P&C Associations of NSW to enable the P&C to address some community concerns around membership and election practices.  You must be a financial member by the close of the February meeting to vote or stand for election at the AGM.

The AGM will be held on Tuesday 16 March at 7.30pm in the school library.

Getting involved in your P&C

The Association encourages your involvement and participation in our school. The P&C plays a role in representing parent voice on a range of school related topics as well as providing a significant source of fundraising / financial assistance to the school.
